Job summary

We’re looking for a qualified Product Designer to join our UX & Digital Design team with the goal to develop great experiences that drives the eyewear industry forward. You’ll be apart of a product team that leads user research and and user interface projects. Your creativity and eye for design, along with your technical knowledge will help create both functional and appealing features that address our customer’s needs while meeting business goals.

For this role, you must have experience in UX/UI design, rapid prototyping for user testing and creating high-fidelity prototypes for websites.

Key job responsibilities:

Visual Communication

  • Continuously apply a first person perspective into building a fabulous, comprehensive digital product
  • Willingness to learn and use low fidelity & rapid prototyping capabilities, with a tight-knit team
  • Ability to provide or receive constructive feedback as a part of the creative process
  • Comfort in navigating problems and opportunities autonomously
  • Comfortable with cross-functional collaboration between Design, Product, Engineering, & Marketing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant certification in User Experience Design, Human-Centered Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or similar
  • 1+ years working as a Product/UX/UI Designer with proven Design, Research, & UX/UI capabilities
  • You have a basic understanding of front-end coding and familiar with front-end development best practices
  • Attentive to creating responsive designs that are compatible across platforms and screen sizes
  • Passion for design trends and understands best practices for user experience
  • Can work collaboratively across an entire product team. This includes but is not limited to Product Managers, Developers, QA, Designers, and other stakeholders
  • Can work effectively as a remote team member
  • Portfolio and ability to discuss basic design process

Skills:

  • Communication & visual design skills with a deep understanding of the formal elements of design
  • Basic project and time management skills
  • Ability to present designs to key stakeholders to communicate and explain design decision
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Figma, such as Adobe Products or Sketch
  • Adept with components
  • Familiarity with working and contributing to an established design systems
  • Familiar with design systems and component libraries
  • Bonus: experience with Asana, Confluence, User Testing and Miro (or Mural)

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Champion the design process, pushing yourself and the design team to take chances and explore big ideas before narrowing in on feasible, creative solutions with attention to detail
  • Produce deliverables at every stage of the design process, such as storyboards, wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes and pixel-perfect visual assets
  • Partner with the team of designers, product managers and engineers throughout the design process – from creating user flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes
  • Give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality
  • Cultivate relationships with our customers to ensure design truly reflects the needs of the users we are serving (UX)
  • Be part of evolving our design language and the design system that upholds it
  • Work side-by-side with our design system UI engineers to ensure precise implementations

  • Be a thought leader – taking ownership of both product areas & aspects of team-culture to drive our team towards greater success

Requirements:

  • An outstanding portfolio, showcasing your work with a foundation in interaction and visual design, and idea generation
  • Team Player: Be willing to roll up your sleeves and work cross-functionally
  • Solid presentation skills & the ability to hold your audience’s attention
  • You are proactive and not afraid to drive towards finding a better solution
  • Someone who listens to others and values understanding above being right
  • Someone who enjoys solving complex design problems!!
  • Bachelors degree in Design (Product, Industrial, etc.)
  • Master’s degree in CS or HCI preferred

SF Fleet Week App Developer Internship

The San Francisco Fleet Week Association (SFFWA) is a 501©3 non-profit organization whose mission is the planning execution of the annual San Francisco Fleet Week events. The funding for the organization comes from private donations, City and County of San Francisco grants, revenue from the annual air show and other miscellaneous sources.

The App Developer Intern, under supervision of the Executive Director and the Deputy Public Affairs Officer, serves as the developer for the San Francisco Fleet Week Association Mobile Application. This position will also provide updates to the mobile application to support the SFFWA Team for the planning and execution of the annual SFFW Event.

This position has a degree of autonomy and requires professionalism and organization to complete the tasks below.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Update SFFWA mobile app with up-to-date event times, and location.
  • Make changes to the App when the situation arises.
  • Ensure the app is functional on both the Apple and Android platform.
  • Adding visual content on corresponding pages.
  • Troubleshooting the mobile application.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with app developing programs
  • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets
  • Ability to communicate with the SFFWA team via email and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to coordinate work efforts in a fast-paced environment
